Over the past week, more than 11,000 COVID-19 vaccines were administered to Westchester residents, according to Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who touted them for going out and getting shots in the arm.
During his latest COVID-19 briefing on Monday, Sept. 27, Latimer announced that 88.4 percent of eligible county residents 18 and over have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
“What we are seeing in this county is a high vaccination rate,” he said. "We are certainly doing what we can to make vaccinations available to people.”
At the county-run vaccination sites, 327,656 vaccines have been administered at the Westchester County Center, 62,016 at Department of Health sites, and 78,039 at the Yonkers Armory.
In total, 467,711 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered at the sites.
As of Sept. 27, there were 2,137 active COVID-19 cases in Westchester, with two virus-related deaths in the past week, bringing the total to 2,329 fatalities countywide since the pandemic began in March 2020, according to the state Department of Health.
